VMF flexible fiber optic splice protectors without a reinforcing pin
The VMF MINI FLEX Series comprises flexible heat-shrink fiber optic splice protectors for 250 μm primary coated fibers, manufactured without a steel reinforcing pin. Their 1.2 mm recovered diameter and 0.5 mm opening enable splice protection in devices with very limited installation space. Lengths from 10 to 45 mm protect the connection against mechanical damage, moisture, and contamination while retaining flexibility.

DETAILED TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
VMF MINI FLEX fiber optic splice protectors were developed for applications where a small recovered diameter and connection flexibility are essential. They are used in laser modules, In-Line attenuators, Mode Conditioning Patchcords, and compact fiber optic modules and cassettes. The pinless construction reduces the recovered diameter and allows the protected fiber to be routed in very limited space.
The VMF Series has a 1.2 mm recovered outer diameter and is available in lengths from 10 to 45 mm. Each protector consists of a thick-wall outer tube and a hot-melt inner tube with a 0.5 mm opening. When heated, the inner layer fills the space around the fiber and reduces the formation of air bubbles. With no steel reinforcing pin, the connection remains flexible, while the thickened outer wall provides tensile and puncture resistance. Products are checked against EN 50411-3-3, Telcordia GR-1380-CORE, and ZN-96 TPSA-006 requirements.

VMF SPLICE PROTECTORS – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Removing the reinforcing wire reduces the recovered diameter to 1.2 mm and keeps the protected connection flexible. Mechanical protection is provided by the thickened outer tube wall.
VMF is designed for single fibers with a 250 μm primary coating. The opening before recovery is 0.5 mm.
The recovered outer diameter is 1.2 mm ±0.1 mm. Available lengths are 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 mm.

Based on supplier information and our internal material compliance assessment, the products do not contain substances on the ECHA Candidate List dated 4 February 2026 above 0.1% by weight and do not contain substances restricted under Annex XVII of REACH.
RoHS – restriction of hazardous substances
The VMF Series is covered by a declaration of compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS), including amendments introduced by Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863. The declaration confirms compliance with current restrictions on specified hazardous substances.
PFAS – statement on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances
Based on supplier information and our internal material compliance assessment, V-Protect declares that products covered by the statement, including the VMF Series, do not contain intentionally added PFAS substances.
POPs – persistent organic pollutants
The VMF Series is covered by a declaration of compliance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants. The products and their standard packaging meet applicable requirements for substances restricted by this regulation.
Conflict Minerals – responsible sourcing of raw materials
V-Protect follows a responsible sourcing policy and supports efforts to limit the use of minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
Based on supplier information and our internal material assessment, the products do not intentionally contain tin, tantalum, tungsten, or gold from sources that finance armed conflict or contribute to serious human-rights abuses.
Human Rights and Child Labour Policy

ODS, F-gases, mercury, radionuclides, and biocidal products
Based on material composition and supplier information, V-Protect declares that standard fiber optic splice protectors do not contain ozone-depleting substances, fluorinated greenhouse gases, mercury or its compounds, or radionuclides. The products have no biocidal function and are not classified as biocidal products.
EN 50411-3-3 – requirements for fiber optic splice protectors
The VMF Series is tested against EN 50411-3-3 requirements, including attenuation change, vibration, torsion, fiber retention, bending, low and high temperatures, humidity, temperature cycling, and salt mist.

The VMF Series is also tested against Telcordia GR-1380-CORE requirements for fiber optic splice protection.

VMF products are additionally tested against the ZN-96 TPSA-006 company standard used in Polish telecommunications.
