DETAILED TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

V24 fiber optic splice protectors were developed for telecommunications installations with a high density of connections. Their compact recovered diameter, broad range of lengths, and compatibility with 250 μm or 900 μm coated fibers make the series suitable for splice trays, closures, distribution frames, and fiber optic equipment. The construction protects the splice against mechanical damage, contamination, and climatic conditions without introducing additional optical power loss.

The V24 Series has a recovered outer diameter of 2.4 mm and is available in lengths from 20 to 61 mm. Each protector consists of a 1 mm reinforcing pin, a thin-wall outer tube, and an inner tube with a 1.2 mm opening. The hot-melt inner layer fills the space around the fiber and pin, reducing the risk of air bubbles. The steel pin stiffens the connection and helps protect the splice against longitudinal stress during shrinking. Products are checked against the requirements of EN 50411-3-3 and ZN-96 TPSA-006.

V24 SPLICE PROTECTORS – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The V24 Series is a universal protector range designed for both 250 μm and 900 μm coated fibers. Thanks to its compact construction and an external recovered diameter of approximately 2.4 mm, V24 protectors are particularly recommended for applications requiring maximum space savings, such as micro splice trays, compact optical distribution frames, and high-density FTTH installations.

The V24 Series is available in a range of lengths, allowing the protector to be matched to the requirements of a specific splice tray or fiber optic system.

The most popular lengths include:

  • 20 mm
  • 25 mm
  • 30 mm
  • 35 mm
  • 40 mm
  • 45 mm
  • 50 mm
  • 55 mm
  • 60 mm
  • 61 mm

Custom lengths can also be manufactured on request as part of OEM and special-production projects.

Yes. V24 protectors are available as standard in selected catalogue colors, while V-Protect can also manufacture protectors in custom colors.

Colored protectors simplify fiber identification and connection organization and allow the product to be adapted to customer or private-label requirements.

Color availability and minimum production quantities are agreed individually.

Yes. The V24 Series can be supplied under OEM and Private Label programs.

Available options include:

  • custom product markings,
  • individual packaging,
  • non-standard colors,
  • special lengths,
  • dedicated logistics configurations.

This enables distributors and fiber optic equipment manufacturers to offer the product under their own brand.

The compact V24 construction was developed for use in modern splice trays with limited installation space.

V24 protectors are compatible with many standard trays designed for protectors with a recovered diameter of approximately 2.4 mm. Before use, however, we recommend checking the holder dimensions in the specific splice tray.

If in doubt, the V-Protect technical team will help select the appropriate protector series.

The main differences are the supported fiber coating diameter and the available length range.

V15 is intended primarily for very compact installations using 250 μm fibers. V24 provides a larger internal opening, also supports 900 μm coated fibers, and offers a broader range of lengths.

Yes. V-Protect fiber optic splice protectors are manufactured from materials meeting the requirements of the RoHS Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Documentation confirming compliance with RoHS and other applicable environmental regulations is available to customers on request.

Yes. The V24 Series was designed for modern fiber optic installations, including FTTH (Fiber To The Home) networks, where efficient use of space in distribution frames, distribution points, and subscriber termination points is often essential.

Thanks to their small recovered diameter, V24 protectors allow more splices to be accommodated in a limited space while maintaining a high level of mechanical protection for the fiber optic connection.

The V24 Series is particularly recommended for:

  • high-density FTTH networks,
  • micro distribution frames and distribution points,
  • in-building installations,
  • compact splice cassettes and trays,
  • applications requiring maximum space savings.

The V24 Series was developed specifically for applications where standard protectors may occupy too much space. With a recovered diameter of approximately 2.4 mm, it enables more splices to be arranged efficiently within the same installation area.

The main benefits of the V24 Series in micro splice trays include:

  • compact dimensions that increase tray capacity,
  • easier organization of optical fibers,
  • high mechanical protection of the splice,
  • compatibility with modern FTTH and FTTx systems,
  • suitability for equipment with limited installation space,
  • availability in different lengths and configurations.

By combining compact dimensions with high manufacturing quality, the V24 Series is an optimal solution for projects requiring many fiber optic connections while maintaining a compact overall system design.

Yes. The V24 Series was developed, among other applications, for manufacturers of WDM, CWDM, and DWDM modules, where limited installation space requires protectors with a very small recovered diameter.

Choose 20–30 mm protectors for compact modules and splice trays, 35–45 mm for standard applications, and 50–61 mm when a longer protected area is required. If you need another dimension or a special configuration, compare the other product series in our fiber optic splice protector range.

V24 is a micro fiber optic splice protector for 250 μm or 900 μm coated fibers, designed for FTTH networks, micro splice trays, and high-density fiber applications.
